  20. Please take a moment to read this before posting to comp.unix.wizards
  21. for the first time.

  23. comp.unix.wizards is for in-depth discussion of advanced unix topics.

  25. Elementary questions do not belong in comp.unix.wizards.  For example,
  26. some technical socket questions can be appropriate but "How do I
  27. program with sockets?" is too basic for comp.unix.wizards.

  29. A lot of questions about usage of unix editors, shells, utilities,
  30. vendor-specific system administration, and unix folklore usually
  31. receive better responses in other newsgroups.

  33. Crossposting to comp.unix.wizards and comp.unix.questions is
  34. inappropriate.  Plenty of wizards read comp.unix.questions and answer
  35. questions there.  (KILL file users who would like to skip all
  36. crossposted articles are invited to use "/Newsgroups:.*,/h:j").

  38. A wizard is someone who can rewrite the entire system from scratch.  If
  39. you are not a wizard, you are welcome to follow along the discussions
  40. anyway.  You'll learn quite a bit about how UNIX works.  Caution: post
  41. to wizards only if you are yourself a wizard.

  43. For a list of answers to frequently asked questions (FAQ), please refer
  44. to comp.unix.questions (or comp.lang.c, comp.answers, etc...).  "How do
  45. I delete a file whose name starts with a '-' ?" is an example of such a
  46. question.  Please do not ask or answer FAQ's on the net.

  48. Write to Unix-Wizards-Request@BRL.MIL (Subject: subscribe.  Any
  49. message.) if you would like to have a daily digest of this newsgroup
  50. mailed to you.

  53. "info-unix-cancel@brl.mil", no text required.  It is incorrect to post
  54. such requests to the list, or to mail them to me, though others may
  55. mistakenly do so.  Allow several weeks to process unsubscribe
